Upon our return, however, we found that the price had been lowered substantially and that there was renewed interest in the home. If we wanted to make an offer, now was the time.
It so happened that my mother-in-law was in town so we had her see the home. “It looks like a place Teddy Roosevelt would live in!” she said. Well, I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
“Why not just make an offer? There’s nothing to lose” said Maddy. “We can always back out after the inspection.” So in we went with an offer, back came a counter offer, then we settled on somewhere in the middle. Before I knew it we had a signed agreement and our broker was having us get our current home ready for sale.
As for that sleep I had caught up on the week before while on vacation? Well, I hadn’t really caught up on all of it. We were there with the rest of the Northeast, so I’d have to get up at 4:00 in the morning to save a place on the beach. After a few days of this we'd decided to plan a ski trip for next year’s winter break. Well, I guess my ski trip had just become a bathroom!
