There is a plus side to having Our Old House in such disarray. I now have an excuse for losing things. Among all of our stuff, there are floor plans, paint samples, tiles, wood pieces with different finishes, countertop options, books, and magazines. I think Jimmy Hoffa or Whitey Bulger could be here and we wouldn't know it.
Case in Point: A while ago I was in downtown Boston and received a call from Heath, the production assistant, asking if there was a second set of my car keys at the house. I assured him that they were in the small bowl at the top of the stairs. I also told him the car might not start as it had been acting up lately.
When I returned home the car was not in its original parking spot. I was pretty happy that the keys had been found and that the car was working. But Heath apprised me that there were no keys in a little bowl at the top of the stairs and rather than wait for me, the "Boys" picked up the car and actually moved it in order to make room for one of their job vehicles. I was very surprised, and duly impressed.
At the top of the stairs there was not one, but three small bowls and not a key in any of them...hmmm...I could have sworn I left them there...hmmm, now where did I put my laptop?

Hi Chris & Liz,
Looking forward to watching the premier and to see all the progress...and to see the final decision on painting or not painting the woodwork!!
That is always a big puzzle for homeowners-
and one could make a strong case for either
direction. I think there is a lightness and freshness to painted trim, on the other hand, a wonderful richness and sense of history with wood tones...and it all depends on how you want the space to feel!
Hope you are all happy with the results!!
