Tomorrow is the big day: The first episode of TOH's new season airs on PBS (showing our house!). We got an advance copy and had some family and friends over yesterday to watch. It is…not as bad as I thought!! At least this episode. I am not one to get in pictures, so you can imagine my anxiety over this. People ask why would I agree to have my house done on camera if I am camera-shy. I guess if they have to ask, they don't get it. The best of the best doing what they love to your home is more than reason enough.

The outside of the house is painted; we went with Nantucket Gray—it looks stunning!!  You can see it on the webcams—it is exactly the color that I envisioned. We love it. We are now in the process of stripping, and most likely painting, our original doors. They are going to look so good.

As for my dilemma about painting the woodwork or not: It looks like I really don't have a choice as some of the woodwork is already painted white and it would be too much work and would not look so good if we stripped it. But, with the colors I am choosing for the interior, the white woodwork is going to look great. Kathy Marshall (the kitchen designer), Chris and I took a little field trip to Home Depot last week.

Kathy and Lisey Good (the interior designer) are just amazing. We went to pick out our bathroom and kitchen tiling and also to look at our granite for the countertops. Since my cabinets are cherry we were sort of leery about going with black for the granite. Would it be too dark? There is a lot of light as you can see, but we were thinking it might be too heavy. But there really is not any cabintery above the countertops. Kathy also suggested some backsplash with color, maybe a blue or glass. We are narrowing it down. This is all the fun stuff—we've picked out our appliances all ready as well.  Can you believe only 2 more months to go??!!
